Clowns have been around for hundreds of years. They have randomly been popping up in plays, literature, and circuses for a very long time. Clowns are mostly silly, harmless, and playful characters. Sometimes, they are even witty. However, Stephen King decided to put a new mask on the traditional clown. It’s an evil mask that has people super freaked out. King has forever changed the face of the clown with his novel, It.
It has been adapted into a movie, which is currently in theaters. King fans, and scary clown fans, are very hyped up about viewing this new movie. The movie takes place in a small American town. One day, out of nowhere, children start vanishing from this town. One of the characters in the movie has a theory that the town is cursed by an evil clown.
Andy recently finished reading Stephen King’s novel, It. Listen as he tells Romeo about his theory about evil clowns.
Andy_H: All right, so the coolest thing happened in my life. About a year ago, I randomly just picked up the book and was like, “I’m going to read It.” It being the novel by Stephen King.
Romeo: Oh! OK.
Andy_H: Just, out of nowhere, I’m not joking, I finished the book, put it down, and I got on my computer. Find out, they’re making a movie.
Romeo: They…they are!
Andy_H: It’s, like, so close to being released! I’m just beyond myself.
Romeo: I’m wondering if they didn’t decide they wanted to do like a, you know, like bring it back out again…and by it, I mean It...because of the, remember when those clowns were, like, popping up and people were getting super freaked out?
Andy_H: I got a theory about that. I thought…I mean…I got a theory about it. All right, so we live in a day where, like, everybody can get the same picture near the Mona Lisa. Like, everyone’s constantly viewing. OK?
Romeo: Ah…sure.Andy_H:...so that people could get really hyped up.
Romeo: Yes. All right. So, is this your way of asking me to go watch the movie with you?
Andy_H: Do you want to see It?
Romeo: I will definitely go see It, as long as you bring the popcorn.
Andy_H: I’ll bring the popcorn.
